Seymour (“Sy”) Meyers, 86, died February 3, 2014 at his home in Elkins Park with his beloved partner, Marilyn Silberstein, at his side. He grew up on a chicken farm in Toms River, NJ, and farmed until shortly after his marriage at the age of 36.
Seymour (“Sy”) Meyers, 86, died February 3, 2014 at his home in Elkins Park. He grew up on a chicken farm in Toms River, NJ, and farmed until shortly after his marriage at the age of 36. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and went on to become a sales representative and later a salesman for office furniture. At the age of 82, he obtained his insurance salesperson’s license and began a new career. Sy was predeceased by his wife, Ruth Meyers (nee:Krone), and his sister, Evelyn Schottenfeld. He is survived by his son, Michael Meyers of San Ramon, CA, his daughter, Molly Meyers-Goss of Bellmawr, NJ, 5 grandchildren, and his partner, Marilyn Silberstein, of Elkins Park. Rabbi Adam Zeff of Germantown Jewish Centre officiated at the funeral, which was held in Toms River, not far from the site of his family’s farm. Shiva was observed at Marilyn’s daughter, Adina Silberstein’s home in Mt. Airy. Contributions in Seymour’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association or preferred charity of one’s choice.
