Sylvia Roseman Marder, 88, died Dec. 17 at the Rydal Park Retirement Community in Rydal.

    Marder worked as a school librarian and library supervisor for the School District of Philadelphia for 29 years. She was involved in developing one of the first school bibliographies about the Holocaust.

    Born in Philadelphia, she attended the Philadelphia High School for Girls. She graduated from Temple University with a bachelor's degree in teaching and earned a master's degree in library science from Villanova University.

    A member of the Germantown Jewish Centre for 54 years, Marder was active with the Germantown Chapter of Hadassah and served as its president. While in that capacity, she organized and ran a successful antique show as fundraiser.

    She was also a member of several book clubs.

    Marder is survived by her husband of 65 years, Nathan Marder; daughter Jane Stein; son William Marder; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
