Jacqueline S. Beaver (nee Stember), 93, of West Hills, California, formerly of Bala-Cynwyd, died on November 5, 2013 after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late David Beaver. Born in New York City she was a graduate of Erasmus Hall and Brooklyn College (1940). She was a long time Jewish Community leader and was President of the Women's Division of the American Jewish Congress and sat for many years on the National AJC Governing Council. She was honored as a Director Emeritus of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Philadelphia for her long service on its Board and as Chair of several commissions. She was an officer and Trustee of Main Line Reform Temple for a lengthy period. She served in a professional capacity as Director of Political Action for the Senior Adult Council of the Jewish Y's and Centers. After relocating to Laguna Woods, California she served as President of the Laguna Hills Section of the National Council of Jewish Women and President of the Orange County Society for Humanistic Judaism. Through out her life she maintained a passion for social justice and firmly believed in the Jewish concept of “Tikuun Olam,” that every person has an obligation to make the world a better place. She is survived by her son, Joel D. Beaver, Esq. of Center City; her daughter, Dr. Bonnie A. Beaver and her husband, Dr. Michael J. Roberts, of Calabasas, California; her granddaughters Alexandra M. Roberts, also of Calabasas, and Gabrielle J. Roberts of Chicago and a niece, Joann Sason of Setauket, New York.
