Emanuel Harris, 95, of Warminster and formerly of Shenandoah, passed away Monday at Abington Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was the son of the late Sam Harris and Bertha Kaplan and the husband of Ethel Factor Harris. Born in Shenandoah on Feb. 2, 1922, Emanuel was the owner and operator of the former Harris Bakery in Shenandoah. He was president of the Kehillat Israel Congregation; treasurer of the B’nai B’rith organization; member of the preservation committee of the Kehillat Israel Cemetery; American Legion member; a member of the former Shenandoah Elks Lodge; and a World War ll Army veteran. Emanuel was an avid student of history and current events, an amateur auto mechanic and a doting family man who also loved to dance. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Sara Harris Malett and Bess Harris Apple Klitzner. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Dr. Ronald Harris and his wife Margery, and Sharon Harris Klein and husband Steven Linhard; sister Dorothy Harris Pollack; three grandchildren, David Harris, Randi Harris and her husband Gordon Barron, and Michael Klein; granddaughters Porsha and Nasheema Linhard; and nieces and nephews. Religious services were held on Wednesday May 10, 2017 at noon at the Kravitz Home for Funerals Inc., 40 N. Jardin St., Shenandoah with Rabbi Larry Kaplan officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at the Kehillat Israel Cemetery in Sheanandoah Heights.
