ESTHER WEISS COHEN passed away peacefully Sunday, February 15, 2015, at Abramson Center for Jewish Life in Horsham, Pa.  Esther was born on December 14, 1926 in Philadelphia, to the late JACOB (JACK) and HELEN WEISS.  Esther was the wife of the late ARNOLD S. COHEN and brother of the late ALFRED WEISS.  She was the mother of FRED (LYNN MORGENLANDER) COHEN and GERRI (ALAN) ROSENBERG; grandmother to JARED COHEN, ETHAN COHEN, MARISA ROSENBERG, and EVAN ROSENBERG. Esther graduated from Temple University with a degree in social work.  She worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Public Assistance.  Later she received her master's degree in remedial reading, and pursued her career as a reading specialist in the Philadelphia School District for more than 25 years.  She was passionate about teaching children to read. As a woman with many interests, she enjoyed hobbies of painting and collecting porcelain art.  Esther was fond of music, opera, and ballet.  Together with her beloved husband Arnold, they frequented concerts in Saratoga Springs, and Tanglewood Music Center.  As lifelong members of Temple Sinai, many simchot were shared with family and friends. Mom was beautiful with a lovely smile. She was a devoted mother, and an insightful and thoughtful person.  Contributions in her memory may be made to Gift of Life Family House in Philadelphia, Temple Sinai in Dresher, or Abramson Center for Jewish Life.
