A Bucks County couple is challenging the Jewish community to support the JCC Maccabi Games that will be held in Philadelphia this August.

Gene and Marlene Epstein will match up to $5,000 in donations made through June 30.

"We must be supportive of Jewish events, especially one like the Maccabi Games, which bring together young people who share the pride of their common heritage," Gene Epstein said in a statement.

Jewish boys and girls between the ages of 13 and 16 will compete in soccer, basketball, track and field, hockey, dance, baseball and more during the Olympic-style games set for Aug. 14-19. More than 1,250 teen athletes, coaches and family members from around the United States and four other countries are expected to participate in the event, which will be held at the Kaiserman Jewish Community Center in Wynnewood and other venues throughout the area.
