Nancy Black (left) and Rachel Fitoussi, co-chairs of the Israeli Shuk at Adath Israel in June 2012, join Rabbi Eric Yanoff in displaying the Schechter Award of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism honoring the program.

When it comes to marketplaces, Nancy Black and Rachel Fitoussi take the cake — also the hummus and the salads. The two women of Adath Israel co-chaired the synagogue's Israeli Shuk last year, featuring food, dancing and fun activities for kids.

In the process, they not only pleased those attending but they impressed the judges of the Schechter Award of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. The movement announced the award at its recent centennial conference in Baltimore.

Given the success of the shuk, the synagogue is reportedly planning an expanded event for next year.
