Lafayette Hill's Mary Bert Gutman (fourth from left) is cheered by alumni of the Gutman Early Learning Center and other FELS sites at the 25th annual Love Our Kids event. As a sign of their respect, they awarded her a special piece of art.

Close to 200 revelers gathered at the Manor House in Ambler for the 25th annual Love Our Kids event presented by Federation Early Learning Services. The celebration marks the agency's role in providing childcare for more than 45,000 children and their families throughout the region.

As a first, alumni attended along with supporters and friends of FELS.

The function included a salute to Mary Bert Gutman, named as the first Love Our Kids honoree for helping to bring national attention to FELS' achievements over her more than 60 years of devotion to the nonprofit.

A longtime activist on behalf of the need for quality education for children, Gutman is the namesake of the FELS site in Melrose Park. Her communal activities are legion and widespread as she serves on the boards of a number of agencies, including the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia and the Jewish Family and Children's Service.
