It was a home run of a celebration as scores of fans jammed into the gala celebrating the opening of “Chasing Dreams: Baseball and Becoming Americans” at the National Museum of American Jewish History in Old City.

The display — multimedia in design and execution — sheds light on the impact such naturals as Sandy Kouffax and Hank Greenberg had on the game and society while battling stereotypes and roadblocks to success.

Communal leaders and everyday fans packed the gala, chaired by the city's No. 1 sports fan, Ed Rendell.

The exhibit runs through Oct. 26, coinciding with the end of the 2014 baseball season.
