Judge Arlin M. Adams, one of the stalwarts of the federal bench and longtime activist on behalf of the Jewish community, will be honored May 21 at the 32nd annual Jewish Law Day, held at the Jewish Community Services Building in Center City.

The much-honored Adams is a retired federal court judge who once served as secretary of public welfare for Pennsylvania. His career of judicial prominence included being one of two finalists for a Supreme Court seat during the administrations of Presidents Richard M. Nixon and Gerald Ford. (Those seats were eventually landed by William Rehnquist and John Paul Stevens.) He is currently serving as counsel at Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP.

In the community, Adams has been an executive with the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia and active in a number of top-tier positions with cultural and public service groups.

Jewish Law Day is a program of the Louis D. Brandeis Society.
