Israel’s Yuri Foreman, former World Boxing Association super welterweight champion-cum-rabbinical student, goes a round with Adam and Sara Laver (left), Ad Olam chairs, and Farrah and Adam Nachmani, who chaired the reception for Israel Bonds.

A “Knockout Cocktail Reception” was thrown by Philadelphia State of Israel Bonds New Leadership Division, Ad Olam, at the Joe Hand Boxing Gym. Don’t ask who ordered the punch.

Israel’s Yuri Foreman, a former World Boxing Association super welterweight champion now studying to become a rabbi at a Brooklyn yeshiva, was a special guest.

Foreman once explained the unlikely combination of spirituality and boxing to the press: "Boxing is sometimes spiritual in its own way. You have the physical and mental challenges in boxing, just like you have lots of challenges in exploring the different levels of Judaism. They are different but the same."
