Claire H. Liachowitz
Claire H. Liachowitz, 82, former associate professor and chief of the Department of Phys­ical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Graduate Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, died March 15.
 
Born in Mahanoy City, Pa., she received three degrees from Bryn Mawr College over a 34-year span beginning in 1952, including her doctorate in political science in 1986.
 
She got her medical degree in 1956 from the College of Phy­sicians and Surgeons, Columbia University.
 
She was an assistant professor at Temple University Hospital from 1962-1964. 
 
In 1988, Liachowitz wrote Dis­a­bility as a Social Construct: Legislative Roots.
 
Among her personal delights were playing bridge with her friends, spending time with her family and rooting on the Phil­lies.
 
She is survived by a sister, Lo­is Ann Spoont; nephews, grand­nephews and a grandniece.
