Chazzanut’s Golden Age in America: New York Cantors 1910-1950 - Hassel Adult Education Lecture

Glantz, Hershman, Koussevitzky, Kwartin, Oysher, Peerce, Pinchik, Rosenblatt, Roitman, Tucker, Vigoda—all revered names from the Golden Age of Chazzanut and all at shuls in New York between 1910 and 1950.  During this remarkable time, crowds would pack in to see and hear the Musaf repetition!  During this program, we will discuss and listen to recordings and Dr. Lawrence Indik, Associate Professor in the Voice and Opera Department at TempleUniversity, will sing some of their great compositions. Light refreshments served at 9:00 am; program follows.
