Carolyn Wolff, 95, Longtime Educator

Carolyn Sundheim Hirsch Wolff, 95, died April 1 in Sacramento, Calif. She was formerly of Philadelphia.

A 1929 graduate of Germantown High School, Wolff completed the Philadelphia Normal School and art-appreciation classes at the Barnes Foundation.

Wolff audited numerous collegiate and professional courses at regional colleges and universities, and created educational opportunities for scouting groups, primary grade organizations and adult continuing-education organizations.

She was an active member of Temple Judea and its women's organizations, as well as a member of Congregation Keneseth Israel in Elkins Park.

At Keneseth Israel, Wolff taught Sunday School, traveled with the synagogue's lecture groups and participated in K.I.'s book-club activities.

She was also a member of the Philmont Country Club.

A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, May 5, at 11 a.m., at Reform Congregation Keneseth Israel, 8339 Old York Road, Elkins Park.

Wolff is survived by daughter Ruth Fields Messersmith; sons L. Carl Wolff, L. Richard Wolff, Morris H. Wolff and David S. Wolff; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Leo Wolff.
