The Project this week: recapping some of the author's favorite places visited over the past nine months in a virtual culinary tour of the city (and suburbs, too!).
It's been about nine months since I began this blog, so I thought it would be fun to look back on some of my favorite places, just in case you missed anything or needed some new ideas while celebrating your summer!
Here's my list of Jewish-owned, -operated or -chef'd spots, neighborhood by neighborhood:
Sister Cities Park has gorgeous views of the sun setting behind Logan Circle. Bring wine, a blanket and an appetite for the cheese pairings from Milk and Honey Café.
A stroll around Rittenhouse Square is always relaxing, but can make you hungry. Try artisanal bagels from Spread Bagelry, caffeinated creations at family-owned Joe Coffee and, for dessert, low-calorie frozen goodies from The Lite Choice.
Midtown Village (or Washington Square West, for the purists)
I'm not sure which neighborhood name Cheu Noodle, the latest venture from Ben Puchowitz, prefers, but it's new and it's hot — get there and try the Jewish pho, made with brisket and a matzah ball.
If you knew and loved Ansill or Pif, but lost track of Chef David Ansill, then it's time to head over to Bar Ferdinand, where's he has completely revamped the menus at this Spanish standout.
I love spending my Sundays at the Piazza's Brooklyn Flea. The goods for sale are carefully curated and, for the most part, are affordable priced. Plus, there are tons of delicious food and beverage options, both in the Piazza's restaurants as well as from vendors, to keep your energy going while you shop.
Honey's Sit 'n Eat, famous for its brunch, has recently expanded its operations to the corner of 21st and South Streets. Same delicious food, just a different neighborhood to enjoy while waiting in line. You should also know that the Jewish-owned establishment was recently victimized by anti-Semitic graffiti, so dining there has become a political statement of sorts.

P.S.: Feel free to share your faves with me in the comments!
