Leon Isaac Blitman, a Department Head for the Philadelphia School District died January 14 at the age of 86.  He was graduated from Dobbins High School in Philadelphia and received his B.S. and M.S. in Education from the University of Pennsylvania. He completed all the course work for his doctorate degree.   Always ready with a humorous anecdote, Blitman was passionate about his Philadelphia sports teams.  A good listener, he will be remembered by his students, colleagues, family, and friends as witty, kind, sophisticated and thoughtful.   He resided in East Windsor, NJ and Boynton Beach, FL.

Blitman is survived by his wife, Joan; daughter Netta Blitman (Gary Dranch), son Maury Blitman (Amy Bloom), stepdaughters Debra Spaulder (Tom Krivda), Mara White (Michael White) and 8 grandchildren:  Emily Blitman, Sophie Blitman, Russell Dranch, Amanda Dranch,  Charlie Krivda, Jennifer Krivda, Rachel White and Cory White.  His first wife May, predeceased him in 1979. Donations may be given to the American Heart Association.
