The first of three Roger Waters concerts begins tonight at the Wells Fargo Center, and as time ticks closer, protesters are revving up.
The Pink Floyd co-founder has been known to voice his opinions and support the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement, which has outraged many Jewish organizations.
At previous concerts, Waters’ shows included a helium pig with a Star of David on it as well as a dollar sign and a sickle and hammer.
In response, StandWithUs/ Philadelphia will run a truck ad tomorrow, which reads, “Say NO to RACIST Attacks Against Israel by Roger Waters.”
The truck will circle downtown Philadelphia at noon and arrive at Wells Fargo at 6 p.m. and will remain there until 8 p.m.
StandWithUs ran a similar truck ad against Waters for his July 13 Miami concert.
“Roger Waters has a history of blaming only the state of Israel for the lack of peace,” said Joseph Puder, executive director of StandWithUs/Philadelphia. “He supports the boycott campaign against Israel, which does not promote peace, does not create a better life for Palestinians, and whose agenda is the destruction of the State of Israel.
“Waters claims to be against all forms of injustice, but where is his outrage at the Palestinian Authority, which incentivizes murder of Israeli civilians by paying subsidies to terrorists in Israeli jails and their families?” he continued. “StandWithUs is sending a clear message to Waters that his double standard, hatred and lies against Israel will not go unanswered.”
