More than 220 area athletes representing four neighborhood delegations took home numerous medals at the Mid-Atlantic Junior Maccabi Games on May 15 at the Katz JCC in Cherry Hill.

More than 220 area athletes representing four neighborhood delegations took home numerous medals at the Mid-Atlantic Junior Maccabi Games on May 15 at the Katz JCC in Cherry Hill.

 

The one-day sporting competition for Jewish athletes ages 10 to 12 featured more than 700 participants from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Delaware and Connecticut.

 

The Philadelphia area divides into neighborhood delegations: Team Kaiserman, Team Montgomery County, Team Center City and Team Bucks County. Athletes participate in baseball, basketball, soccer, tennis and swimming.

 

Team Kaiserman’s girls’ basketball team won a gold medal, while the swim team was the overall meet winner, collecting 22 gold, 16 silver and 13 bronze medals.

 

Meantime, Sloan Steinberg, Evyn Stone, Josh Finkle and Lexi Bari all won tennis gold medals, while the baseball team won a silver medal, and the boys’ basketball team won a silver medal in its bracket.

 

Team Montgomery County’s girls’ soccer “blue team” won a gold medal, while the boys’ basketball team won a silver medal in its bracket.

 

The swim team for Team Bucks County placed third overall, with 17 gold, four silver and seven bronze medals.

 

And Team Center City’s boys’ basketball team won a gold medal in its bracket.
