Politz Principal Recognized by State Council on Private Education

Besie Katz, longtime principal of the Orthodox day school, has been named Primary School Administrator of the Year by the Pennsylvania Council on American Private Education.

Besie Katz, the founder and longtime principal of Politz Hebrew Academy, has been chosen Primary School Administrator of the Year, an honor accorded by the PA CAPE — the Council on American Private Education — at its first Teacher and Administrator of the Year awards event, held in Harrisburg.

Politz principal for 32 years, Katz was cited for demonstrating unparalleled qualities as an educator for grades 1 to 8. She has overseen a boom in the Orthodox day school in Philadelphia, growing from 30 students to 360 now.

A graduate of Temple University with a master's in special education from Johns Hopkins University, Katz also penned Dear Parents and Friends, a book culled from school newsletters.
