Beth Sholom Congregation in Elkins Park names Jeffrey Weber as its new chazzan.
Cantor Jeffrey S. Weber has been named the new chazzan of Beth Sholom Congregation in Elkins Park. He will assume the post on July 1, arriving from his last pulpit at the similarly named Temple Beth Sholom in Sarasota, Fla.
The area native — born in Valley Forge and raised in Commack, N.Y. — has a bachelor's degree from the Juilliard School of Music and received his chazzan diploma at the Jewish Theological Seminary, where he also earned a master's degree in sacred music.
Weber's extensive training and performances include serving as a soloist with the Cantors Assembly at the Berlin Concert Hall. He has also performed in Israel and was featured in the film, 100 Voices: A Journey Home, focusing on the Cantors Assembly Mission to Poland.
