Bud Newman, the campaign chair and president-elect of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, wrote this letter of thanks to supporters.
It has been an exciting and challenging year for our community and for our Federation. While change is often complicated, it presents opportunities to be and do better! Our dedicated campaign leadership team ably seized these opportunities and we all owe them a debt of gratitude. Please join me in congratulating our tireless president, Sherrie Savett, and our campaign leadership team of Sara Minkoff, Ellyn Golder Saft and Gail Norry for their exemplary efforts. Together, they have led our Federation campaign.
Not only did they inspire our donors and the community, project a sense of optimism and confidence in the future of the Federation and build strong relationships, they also built an amazing campaign cabinet representing every facet of the Federation and the community.
These amazing men and women energized the campaign, focused on the needs of the community and inspired so many others to get involved. On behalf of the community, we say THANK YOU to all of them as well as to all our dedicated campaign volunteers and dollar division leadership. Their unyielding drive and passion makes me cautiously optimistic about the prospects for our 2014 campaign.
I am pleased to announce our 2013 Jewish Community Fund campaign closed with a 1.4 percent increase from the previous year ($15,246,544 vs $15,040,000). Our total campaign revenues show a moderately healthy increase of 5.3 percent ($27,390,990 vs $26,009,370).
These are all positive, healthy and optimistic signs. Together, we have begun to turn the tide. We have engaged, energized and united the community. As they say, “Success breeds success,” and we have every reason to look forward to even greater success in 2014.
On behalf of the members of the board of directors, trustees and our campaign cabinet, I would also like to thank all of our more than 17,000 contributors who have so steadfastly supported our campaign. We are all building our Jewish community together, and, together, we are building a solid foundation for the future.
