Gershman Y Arts Head Named to Federation Post

The Gershman Y's head of arts and cultural programming is leaving to work for the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia.

Warren Hoffman, who has overseen arts and cultural programming at the Gershman Y for the past five years, is leaving to become associate director of the Center for Jewish Life and Learning at the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, effective Jan. 27.

He will be working under Barbara Hirsh, former acting dean of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in Wyncote, who will become the center's new director.

Hoffman, a former literary manager and dramaturg for the Philadelphia Theatre Company, also just published a book called The Great White Way: Race and the Broadway Musical.
