The Cougars overcame a slow start to claim a decisive league win against Woodlynde.
The Jack M Barrack Hebrew Academy Girls Varsity Basketball team kept their 2013-2014 season undefeated with a road win against Woodlynde on Dec. 9. The win meant that the Lady Cougars are now a perfect 4 – 0 this season.
Woodlynde jumped to an early lead in the first quarter, but the Cougars quickly adjusted their defensive tactics to contain the opposing team's fast-scoring offense. They also made some necessary adjustments to the home team's unusually large court and by halftime they had managed to pull ahead.
The Cougar's defense shut Woodlynde down in the second half while going on a major offensive run of their own.
The final score was a comprehensive 45-25 win for Barrack.
Barrack's leading scorer was Lindsay Chevlin with 13 points. Sophia Shoulson and Talia Raikin both added eight points. Tali Glickman, Dria Gutierrez, and Jenna Oppenheimer each contributed four points.
Meanwhile, the Barrack Boys Varsity team lost to Valley Forge Military Academy at home on the same night. The Boys team fell to 0 – 2 on the season. Turnovers and poor defense meant Barrack faced a 14 point deficit at the end of the 3rd quarter. By the final whistle the margin had grown to 17 in the 43-66 loss.
