The Israeli actress took to Twitter to express her excitement at being able to play Wonder Woman.
Israeli actress and model Gal Gadot has confirmed that she will be playing the role of Wonder Woman in the upcoming blockbuster movie titled Batman Vs. Superman.
The news was originally broken by Variety Magazine, which quoted director Zack Snyder as saying, “Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.”
Gadot, who stormed onto the international stage with an appearance as Giselle in the popular Fast and Furious movie released in 2009, starred in the same role in two follow up films in the series.
She won the Miss Israel competition in 2004 and competed in the Miss Universe beauty pageant the same year.
After the announcement of her upcoming role as Wonder Woman, Gadot responded on her Twitter account, which has over 182,000 followers.
“Wonder Women! So exciting!!! Can't express how happy I am :)))),” she wrote, adding a screen shot of the Variety article.
The movie is expected to be released in 2015.
