Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett wrote to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to express his steadfast support for maintaining the Israeli Consulate in Philadelphia.
The Honorable Benjamin Netanyahu
3 Kaplan Street, Hakirya
Dear Prime Minister Netanyahu:
I am writing to express my unequivocal support for maintaining the Israeli Consulate in Philadelphia.
The Philadelphia Consulate has been an important resource for American and Israeli citizens throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, and I am convinced that its closure would be detrimental to the numerous Pennsylvanian and Israeli businesses which utilize the Philadelphia Consulate’s services.
Our Commonwealth is home to a robust life-sciences industry and a blossoming energy sector, and the Greater Philadelphia region is particularly important to the United States’ trade with Israel. With a large portion of Israeli exports to the United States passing through the Philadelphia region, I believe that maintaining the services of the Israeli Consulate in Philadelphia is important to both Israeli and Pennsylvania businesses, and I encourage the Israeli Foreign services to preserve this vital service.
Thank you for considering this request; please feel free to contact me if I can be of any assistance to you in this matter.
