A Susan Seidelman movie about wheelchair dancing had a local premiere with the director present.
Hooray for Hollywood and Vine — Street?
Susan Seidelman, an Abington High School and Drexel University graduate who made her bones in Hollywood with Desperately Seeking Susan and then became a much sought-after director, returned to Philadelphia for the local debut of her film Musical Chairs. The title is truth-in-advertising — the movie is about a dance contest whose participants are in wheelchairs.
The showing was sponsored by the Gerald and Janet Carrus Foundation and benefitted the Mayor’s Commission on People with Disabilities as well as the Crossroads Adaptive Alliance.
