Lester B. Kauffman, 86, a retired auto-supply owner, died June 25 at Chestnut Hill Hospital. He was a resident of Jenkintown.
Kauffman was the owner of the K-M Auto Supply Company on North Broad Street for 50 years until his retirement 22 years ago.
He graduated from Simon Gratz High School. During World War II, he served in the Army in the European Theater with the troops that liberated Paris.
After his discharge, he took business courses at night at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania while working at K-M Auto.
Kauffman is survived by his wife, the former Blossom Kane; daughters Ellen Kaplinsky and Cindy Harris; son Andrew Kauffman; sister Harriette Jaffe; brother Howard Kauffman; and five grandchildren.
