Stephen H. Skale, 55, an attorney who specialized in disability cases, died Feb. 6 at his home in Center City.
Skale, who maintained a practice in Center City for 30 years, earned a bachelor's degree from St. Joseph's University and a law degree from Widener University.
Skale was active in the Society Hill Civic Association, where he served as vice president in the early 1990s. He also had been the Democratic committeeman in the 5th Ward, and was president of the South Philadelphia Businessmen's Association.
In addition, Skale was district chairman of the Liberty Bell District of the Boy Scouts of America, where he received many honors in this capacity, including the District Award of Merit, and he served as troop leader at the Old Pine Street Church Community Center.
He coached several neighborhood youth soccer leagues and worked with the Masterman School summer program.
Skale is survived by his wife, the former Linda Carnevale; sons Joseph Skale and Jonathan Skale; and sisters Gloria Rutberg and Eleanore Skale.
