Sandra Melazar Sher, 73, an administrator with the former Philadelphia Anti-Poverty Action Commission, died Jan. 13 at her home in Meadowbrook.
A graduate of Temple University, Sher wrote grant proposals to fund community projects for the Philadelphia Anti-Poverty Action Commission for 17 years. They included funding for the elderly and for education programs sponsored by the Chinese Cultural Center.
Sher was later an administrator at the Ogontz campus of Pennsylvania State University until retiring in the 1990s.
A docent at the Morris Arboretum, she had completed the art and horticultural programs at the Barnes Foundation in Merion.
She also donated to a number of different charities.
Sher is survived by her sister, Margot Leslie Moskowitz; a nephew; and several nieces. Her husband of 28 years, Jack L. Sher, predeceased her in 1996.
