Rubin Salmansohn, 78, a senior vice president with the Citigroup Family Office in the High Net Worth Boutique, died Aug. 27. He was a resident of Elkins Park.
Salmansohn, a former member of the Chicago Board of Trade, had a talent for analyzing patterns — not only in investments, but in varied arenas. When he served as a corporal in Korea for the Army Security Agency, he won a special commendation for his outstanding ability for interpreting codes.
A Beta Gamma Sigma student while at Temple University, Salmansohn played the World Champion of Checkers to a draw on two occasions.
In addition, he was the reigning basketball coach for the Germantown Jewish Centre for five years and president of their stamp club for six years.
Salmansohn is survived by his wife of 50 years, the former Gloria Smilowitz; daughter Karen Salmansohn; son Eric Salmansohn; sisters Doris Chase and Marilyn Verzeni; and two grandchildren.
