After winning four gold medals in the last nine years against nationwide competition, the Philadelphia-area boys basketball team has proven to be a top contender at the JCC Maccabi Games.
But how do the current players stack up against medal winners from the past?
Find out at the 13th Annual JCC Maccabi Games Alumni Basketball Game at the JCC Klein Branch on Aug. 5 at 2:30 p.m.
With the current team set to hoop it up in a couple of weeks at the JCC Maccabi Games in Orange County, Calif., this weekend's matchup should offer them a chance to play against top talent, and perhaps ask the older guys what it's like to represent their city in national play.
For past team members, the game will also allow them to play alongside old friends and showcase some of their winning moves.
It's also an opportunity "to see new, upcoming talent and compare how good they are," said Aron Cohen, 21, a point guard who played on the gold-medal teams in 2001 and 2002.
In past meetings, the Maccabi alumni have won 10 out of 12 games.
