There are not enough adjectives in Julie Gubernick’s vocabulary to adequately describe her excitement about the April 11 Federation Women’s Philanthropy Pomegranate Event featuring guest speaker Jane Golden.
There are not enough adjectives in Julie Gubernick’s vocabulary to adequately describe her excitement about the April 11 Federation Women’s Philanthropy Pomegranate Event featuring guest speaker Jane Golden. Gubernick, co-chair of the event along with Debra Zweben, promises “an amazing evening” featuring cocktails and substantial hors d’oeuvres at a private home.
Gubernick has high praise for Golden, the executive director of Philadelphia’s Mural Arts Program. “Jane is an incredibly philanthropic, inspirational and dynamic Jewish woman,” she enthuses, encouraging all area women who make a minimum contribution of $1,800 to Federation’s 2013 Jewish Community Fund to attend.
Those who accept Gubernick’s invitation will learn about the progress of the Mural Arts Program’s very first project in Israel atop a water tower in Philadelphia’s own Partnership 2Gether community of Netivot. Plans for the mural, which will depict the multiethnic population of this peripheral city, just kilometers away from the Gaza border, were unveiled at the first annual Cultural Entrepreneurism Conference in Netivot. Local artists are planning to bring the project to life by the end of 2013.
Holly Nelson, who serves as Women’s Philanthropy Campaign co-chair along with Jodi Miller, anticipates a large attendance from women who embody the affinity group’s mission and vision. “All who attend truly are Jewish women making a difference in the lives of others,” she says, adding that “they know that by making a gift in their own name, women show their clout and empower themselves and others.”
Dietary laws will be observed. The couvert is $50 per person. For more information, or to register, call Marni Davis, Women’s Philanthropy director, at 215-832-0859, or email: [email protected]
