Ruth Marion Gold, 82, died Sept. 13 in Jenkintown.
Gold grew up in the Strawberry Mansion section of Philadelphia and graduated from high school in 1947. She attended secretarial school and worked as a legal secretary for the Philadelphia courts.
Gold later worked as a secretary at WPVI Channel 6 and eventually became the assistant promotions director. She worked at Channel 6 for more than 20 years and after retirement she worked part-time at a Prudential real estate office.
She lived in King of Prussia for 20 years and then moved to Northeast Philadelphia.
She spent her final two years in Jenkintown at the Sunrise Chelsea assisted living facility.
Gold spoke fluent Yiddish and donated to numerous charities. She also enjoyed tennis and bicycle riding and won trophies for skiing in the 1950s.
She was married to Edwin Naythons from 1959 until 1976.
Gold is survived by a daughter, Meryl Arinsberg; son Lindsay Naythons; brothers Lenny Gold and Harry Gold; and a grandson. She was predeceased by her sister, Esther Striano.
