Jerome P. "Jerry" Heilweil, 85, who was chairman and president of J.P. Heilweil Industries Ltd., and a business owner in Philadelphia for many years, died Sept. 22. A resident of Palm Beach, Fla., he lived in Philadelphia for more than 65 years.

Heilweil was a president and member of the executive board of Har Zion Temple for more than three decades. He was a board member of the Philadelphia Psychiatric Hospital, the Skin & Cancer Hospital and Advanced Gifts Chairman for the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia. An industry leader, he was a past president of the Commercial Refrigerators Manufacturers Association.
Upon moving to Palm Beach, Heilweil and his wife, the former Flora Levin, continued to support many philanthropic causes and became both an annual and life benefactor to the Kravis Center of the Arts and its programs to direct impoverished inner-city children into roles in the arts in South Florida.
In addition to his wife of more than 63 years, Heilweil is survived by daughter Margo Gordon; son Glenn Heilweil; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
