Robert Ceisler, 86, Practiced Law for Many Years

Robert L. Ceisler, 86, who practiced law in Washington County for more than 60 years, died Nov. 29 at his home in Washington, Pa.

Ceisler graduated from Washington & Jefferson College in 1940, and earned his law degree from the University of Michigan in 1943.

He served as president of the Washington County Bar Association and received a number of awards, including the Gilbert Nurick Award from the Pennsylvania Bar Association, for which he served as secretary. He was also president of the Conference of Bar Officers and a member of its Board of Governors.

After retiring in 1994, he continued to conduct arbitration hearings until shortly before his death.

Ceisler was a longtime member of Beth Israel Congregation in Washington, where he taught in its religious school and served as congregation president.

A veteran of World War II, he was promoted to master sergeant, and received a Bronze Star.

Ceisler is survived by his wife of 50 years, the former Constance Levy; daughter Gina H. Shapiro; son Larry Ceisler; brother Ralph Ceisler; and four grandchildren.
