The Jewish Exponent was honored as the best-looking Jewish newspaper in the country in the year 2004 by the American Jewish Press Association at its annual meeting, this year held in Boston.
First-place honors were earned by the Exponent staff as part of the AJPA's annual Simon Rockower Awards.
The award for overall graphic design – which takes into account the layout and appearance of the entire newspaper, marks the third time in the last five years that it has been honored for its graphics.
The Exponent also took home a Rockower in photography, with freelancer Jordan Cassway accorded third place in the category of excellence in photography.
Cassway won for the image (above left) that accompanied the front-page story "Wild, Wild East," on Dec. 30.
The photo depicted the site of a rape in Camden, N.J., and accompanied a story on the city's crime statistics and economic development.
This was Cassway's second consecutive Rockower award for photography.
