Build Community and the City of Jerusalem at Super Sunday

The entire community is invited to this year’s Super Sunday phon-a-thon slated for Sunday, Feb. 10, at the Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy in Bryn Mawr.

Federation Super Sunday 2013 Co-Chairs Jennifer and Michael Willner and Robin and Greg Zappin invite the entire community to this year’s phon-a-thon, slated for Sunday, Feb. 10, at the Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy, 272 S. Bryn Mawr Ave., Bryn Mawr. This is the largest single day of fundraising for the Federation annual campaign.

Two new programs will be introduced this year. Fourth- and fifth-grade students in Greater Philadelphia day and supplemental Hebrew school programs will be at the gym from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. to help build the City of Jerusalem out of Legos. Renowned architect Stephen Schwartz will supervise the construction project, which will utilize more than 50,000 Legos. After the program, many of the students will volunteer on the phones, encouraging their fellow Jews to help those who depend on Federation-funded programs and services for their health and well-being.

Also new this year is a Rabbinic Tea for all area rabbis, members of the Board of Rabbis and their spouses. Super Sunday leadership has designed the 3 p.m. event as an opportunity to honor those who provide educational, spiritual and emotional support to their congregants and to provide a forum for them to participate in this important community event. Following the tea, a number of the rabbis will visit with their congregants on the phoning floor — and some may take to the phone themselves.

Super Sunday begins at 9 a.m. and continues through 9 p.m. Child care and children’s programming will be available throughout the day. Kosher food will sustain volunteers during their shifts. Between phoning sessions, all are encouraged to visit the fourth annual Super Sunday Agency Fair and learn more about the many organizations that help to make the Greater Philadelphia Jewish community a vibrant and vital place to live and work.

Sponsors of Super Sunday (as of Dec. 17, 2013) are Blank Rome, LLP; the Jewish Exponent; Canada Dry Delaware Valley; A-Best Vending; Keystone Volvo Berwyn-Doylestown; Morris, Gary, Bill Novick, Novick Brothers Corporation; Philip Rosenau Company, Inc.; Quality Express Coffee; Savran Benson LLP; and Zarwin, Baum, DeVito, Kaplan, Schaer, Toddy, P.C.
