'Masterpieces & Mystery'
January 24, 2013 5:30 PM-7:30 PM
The Louis D. Brandeis Law Society, the Federal Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts will welcome attorney Raymond J. Dowd for a talk on “Masterpieces & Mystery: Recovering Art Stolen from Victims of the Holocaust.”
According to art historians and museum curators, recently opened archives in Europe and the United States have fostered an ever increasing number of cases relating to artwork stolen by the Nazi during World War II.
Dowd is a national officer of the Federal Bar Association and a partner in the law firm of Dunnington, Bartholow & Miller, LLP, in New York City. As a member of his firm’s corporate, intellectual property, litigation and art law practice groups, he has broad commercial litigation experience in both federal and state trial and appelate couts. Dowd has been trial counsel in several art recover cases.
A cocktail reception in the Washington Foyer of the academy will follow the lecture. The foyer is comprised of five galleries where attendees are invited to explore one of the finest collections of American art in the world.
Approved for 1 hr of CLE credit. Cost: $60 for Brandeis Law Society or Federal Bar Association members; $75 for non-members: $50 for attorneys practicing two years or less. Walk-ins pay an extra $10 at the door.
Register online or send checks made payable to the “Louis D. Brandies Law Society” to Mitchell H. Klevan at Mitchel H. Klevan, LLC, 1515 Market St., Suite 1360, Philadelphia, PA 19102.
