"When Jewish Food Was the Family Business" Panel Discussion

October 6, 2013 4:00 PM-5:00 PM

Join the Temple Judea Museum at Keneseth Israel for a panel discussion about the current exhibition, "Dear Carl, By (sic) Carrots, Love Mollie: When Jewish Food was the Family Business."

Lance J. Sussman, Ph. D. of Sussman's Deli, will lead the discussion about lives lived "above the store."

The event is free and open to the community, but there are receptions before and after the program that require reservations. For information about those receptions, contact us before September 23rd at: (215) 887-2027 or TJMuseum@kenesethisrael.org

"When Jewish Food was the Family Business" offers a snapshot of just a few caterers, deli owners and bakers, primarily Mollie the Kosher Caterer, Betty the Caterer and Rosen's Famous Baking Company. Family was (and is) central to these professionals, both in their pride in successfully serving their client families and in the loving involvement of their own families in their businesses.

(The picture above is one of the items in the exhibit. This shows Ala Dua holding two large challahs at Weis' Bakery.)
