Sally Hemings and Thomas Jefferson: A Secret Love Story
"Sally Hemings and Thomas Jefferson: A Secret Love Story" will be the topic of Dr. Nina Haydel at 1:30 pm Thursday afternoon, January 16th, at Temple Sholom in Broomall. Dr. Haydel, a Philadelphia native, has lived and taught in Latin America and the Middle East. She currently teaches at Ryder University, is academic advisor and professor of a Master of Arts Education program at Central Michigan University, and designs and teaches online courses for two additional universities.
Dr. Haydel will present a new twist to the saga of Sally Hemings, the 38 year slave-wife and love of Thomas Jefferson. Her presentation will be in the first person, offering different viewpoints on a long-debated and sometimes controversial history. The public is invited to this program, which is being presented by the Hilltoppers, the senior citizen group of Temple Sholom. A $2.00 donation is suggested from non-members of Hilltoppers. Refreshments will be served.
