Miriam's Advice Well
May 9, 2014
Harry Rachman, born October 20, 1917, died April 20, 2014 in San Diego/Encinitas, C.A. A native Philadelphian, Harry graduated from Central High School. After marrying Florence Schwartz, his wife of 57 years (who predeceased him in 1996), he opened Rachman's Hardware, which he managed from 1939-64. In 1964, they relocated their family to San Diego. For the past nine years, Harry lived at Seacrest Village in Encinitas. Harry brought joy to everyone he encountered, from customers to people walking on the street and after retirement, volunteering 9500 hours at the SD Jewish Home for the Aged. Also predeceased by sister, Miriam and grandson, MichaeL. Harry is survived by children, Linda (Shelby) Silverman, Jerry (Sandy) Rachman, Judy (Michael) Kaufman, sister Lenore (Emanuel) Triebwasser (of Philadelphia); 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. Our Dear Dad taught us to live, laugh, and "grow older, but not old." May his memory be for a blessing.
