Act Against Hunger Sponsors Free Screening of Documentary “A Place at the Table” in honor of Martin Luther King Day
On the eve of Martin Luther King Day, the Jewish Community Kehillah of Old York Road Act Against Hunger will sponsor a viewing of the newly released documentary on hunger, "A Place at the Table," and a discussion about ending hunger in our region.
"A Place at the Table," an official selection at multiple film festivals, including Sundance and Philadelphia, will be shown on Sunday, January 19 at noon at Gratz College, 7605 Old York Road, Elkins Park, PA. The film follows three American families who maintain their dignity as they struggle to eat.
Following the screening, a local witness to hunger will offer a first-hand account of the daily struggle of living with food insecurity and Julie Zaebst, Policy Manager, the Coalition Against Hunger, Philadelphia will discuss actions we can take to end hunger in our community. http://www.hungercoalition.org .
This film screening is free to the entire community. The public is encouraged to bring a can or package of kosher food to the screening to donate to the Mitzvah Food Project.
