After the giving tide of my son's 10th birthday receeded, I steeled myself for the usual resistance to writing thank-you cards. To my surprise, he sat down and wrote them without a single complaint.

An old show tune brought me back to my Nana's kitchen when I was a little girl, listening to her sing along as she prepared Shabbat dinner.

More than halfway into the Hebrew school calendar, I still can't decide whether continuing our current course or switching to a lone tutor would best benefit our disgruntled young scholar.
