Because of my experiences being teased as a timid kid, I've coached my sons not to apologize for being who they are. But sometimes I still catch myself worrying about their boisterous personalities as if I were looking at them through the eyes of my old classmates.

My boys are fidgety, forgetful, goofy, distracted, impulsive and many more adjectives that some may judge as problematic. But aren't these also the traits of boys just being boys?

When I discovered that my kids had no idea what Purim was, I placated my very loud Jewish guilt by giving them my own Hebrew school lesson during Tuesday's dinner.
