Cherry Hill resident Stephanie Ritigstein put a new twist into her three sons' summer when she took them to a challah baking workshop in Margate, N.J.

About 20 other children and their parents attended the Aug. 23 event sponsored by Chabad of Atlantic City and Chabad at the Shore.

The apprentice bakers enjoyed kneading, flouring, rolling and shaping dough, which they then took home to bake. They also learned about the Jewish signficance of the activity as a mitzvah.

Tova Rapoport, co-director of the Chabad organizations, runs the weekly challah workshops throughout the summer under a large tent next to Downbeach Deli in Margate.
