JCOR, the Jewish Community of Rhawnhurst was founded in 1997 with the purpose of promoting achdus in the orthodox Jewish community and bringing positive growth in Rhawnhurst.
Rhawnhurst is an affordable, friendly, safe neighborhood located in Northeast Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Truly, the real beauty of this Philadelphia Jewish community is in the people who live here. The sense of caring for each other and sharing each other’ssimchas as well as helping when a family needs an act of chesed can only be appreciated by living here.
Our community now has approximately 450 families. The people here are hard-working professionals, business owners, and tradesmen. The employment picture is extremely good. Teachers are almost guaranteed getting a position here that pays in the upper twenty-fifth percent of what teachers are paid nationwide. Healthcare is another area where many people find employment with over 25 major hospitals located within commuting distance to the area. Computer technology is also a field in which many of our residents are employed.
