Brain Cafe: Justice: What’s the Right Thing to Do? The Moral Side of Murder

June 17, 2014 6:00 PM

Feed your brain this summer with The Gershman Y! To participate, watch online lectures from lauded academics on your own time, then join us at The Good Karma Café (331 S 22nd St, Philadelphia) for a lively discussion! Come prepared to share your thoughts and expand your mind!

The series kicks off with Harvard Professor Michael Sandel’s lecture Justice: What’s the Right Thing to Do: The Moral Side of Murder. Sandel asks: If you had to choose between (1) killing one person to save the lives of five others and (2) doing nothing even though you knew that five people would die right before your eyes if you did nothing—what would you do? What would be the right thing to do? Sandel uses this hypothetical scenario
to launch his discussion on moral reasoning.
