Celebrating Tu B'Shevat With Fruitful Seders

Congregations throughout the Philadelphia area celebrated Tu B'Shevat, the Jewish calendar's new year of the trees, with fun and delicious seder meals.

The Tu B'Shevat seder often incorporates seven fruits and nuts associated with Israel as the "land of wheat and barley, of vines, figs and pomegranates, a land of olive trees, and date-honey" (Deuteronomy 8:8). To wash it all down, the meal is usually accompanied by four cups of wine, similar to the Passover seder, but with changing colors.
