'Scene' Contest Takes a Chanukah Spin!
And what will the lucky dreidel-spinner get? Courtesy of the Museum Shop of the National Museum of American Jewish History (215-923-3812) comes a contemporary, hand-painted, abstract menorah.
Think that lights up your life? Wait - there's more! The winning 'Scener" also receives a brass-and-cloisonné-finished dreidel on a stand from the shop.
Okay, the Jewish museum is still cookin' - and we're not just talkin' latkes here: The winner takes home (is "Scene" channeling Don Pardo?) a family pass for the museum's legendary and longtime "Being Jewish at Christmas" celebration, held Dec. 25, from noon to 4 p.m, and featuring music, food, children's activities - did we already say food? - and theatrical presentations.
And what kind of Chanukah would it be without a visit from - "Latke Larry," the animated doll whose voice sounds a lot like Jerry Stiller.
Wait - it is Jerry Stiller. (Does "Scene" smell kasha?)
Okay, "Scene" will throw in a box of matzah meal, too.
And, then, for the little ones, there's the little one: "The Eight Nights of Hanukah," a small-size book and dreidel set.
If you want a little humor, too, then slip on the DVD of "Jerry Seinfeld: Live on Broadway," for a yadda, yadda, yadda of a yuk or two.
And, finally, prize No. 8: When you've had it up to here - and you know where "here" is - with the sufganiyot, go out to eat: A $60 dining certificate is your entree to great food.
To enter, send your name, address and daytime phone number (postcards only) to "Scene-Chanukah," c/o the Jewish Exponent, 2100 Arch St., Philadelphia, PA 19103.
Entries must be received by noon on Thursday, Dec. 15.
So, what are you waiting for? An invitation?
Well, consider this just that.
